School
Matt's journey in the Music Business industry began at Berklee College of Music, where he graduated with a degree in the Music Business track. During his time there, he not only excelled academically but also in extracurricular activities that deepened his understanding of the industry. He was a member of the Berklee Marketing Club and the Grammy U program, regularly attending weekly meetings, online webinars, and music industry conferences. These opportunities enabled him to connect and communicate with leaders and professionals, while also gaining insights from this ever-changing industry.
Professional Industry
Matt has worked in several companies and positions in the industry, giving him a broad overview of how different parts of the music business operate. In the summer of 2024, he joined Love Da Records, working as a Physical Department Officer Intern, where he was involved in sales, communications, and the shipping of vinyl records. From late 2024 to mid 2025, he contributed to The Underground Hong Kong as a Music Review Writer, helping to spotlight indie artists in the Hong Kong and Macau scenes. His reviews helped bring attention and exposure to emerging local talent.
Following these experiences, Matt landed an internship at Warner Music Asia in the summer of 2025, where he worked as an Intern in the A&R department. He took part in the day-to-day responsibilities of an A&R, including scouting new talent, reaching out to artists, assisting in the development of social media campaigns, and providing high-level song and demo analysis to assess how they align with the company's roster. These roles collectively strengthened his understanding of both the creative and commercial sides of the music industry.
Manager
In March 2025, Matt also became the manager of norio, a rising indie pop artist from Hong Kong. Matt's role extended beyond traditional managerial duties, in which he oversaw norio's social media strategy, attended events, wrote lyrics, organized live shows, and managed release schedules. Matt is a strong believer in guiding artists with a hands-on approach, as he sees it as the most effective way to truly connect with the artist and to make sure they're moving in the same artistic direction.
Since working with Matt, norio's music has been featured on playlists across countries such as Korea, Hong Kong, Indonesia, and Thailand. By helping to craft and solidify norio's image, Matt also played a key role in securing media coverage on platforms like Hypebeast and earning event invitations from global brands like Chanel. He is confident that his approach to management, which heavily focuses on developing a strong social media presence and deep creative involvement when needed, can help artists, whether emerging or established, reach new and unexplored heights.
